Chapter 11. IEEE 802.1X–Authenticated Wired Networks
This chapter provides information about how to design, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot wired networks that use IEEE 802.1X authentication. Once deployed, the protected wired network solution can be modified for the 802.1X Enforcement method of Network Access Protection (NAP) as described in Chapter 17.
This chapter assumes that you understand the role of Active Directory, public key infrastructure (PKI), Group Policy, and Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) elements of a Microsoft Windows–based authentication infrastructure for network access. For more information, see Chapter 9.
