Using the Windows 8 SkyDrive App

Windows 8 comes with an app in which you can access your online SkyDrive files. As explained in the task “Adding Files to your SkyDrive Page,” SkyDrive lets you store your documents and personal files online so that they are accessible from any computer via your Microsoft account. Through the Windows 8 SkyDrive app, you can view and navigate through your online folders. You can view and open certain types of files, such as photos and songs. You can also open and edit certain Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and other types of files using Microsoft's Web Apps. This task explains how to use the Windows 8 SkyDrive app.

1 Log in: Log in to Windows with a Microsoft account that already has files stored in SkyDrive. The process for uploading files to SkyDrive is explained in the task “Adding Files to your SkyDrive Page.” Follow the steps in that task to create the necessary folders and files.

2 Open SkyDrive: Launch the Windows 8 SkyDrive app by clicking its Start screen tile.
