Summary
This study is the first to examine, from a comparative and transnational perspective, the manner in which Italian, German and French socialists addressed fascism and national socialism over more than four decades. It considers not only the distinctive traits and temporal awareness of the three countries, but also the respective perceptions of other Western European comrades. The focus is consistently on individual people rather than structures or organisations, in the form of political parties.
