Chapter 2. String Utilities

Strings are a very important part of most Java programs. They are used for text display, data representation, lookup keys, and many other purposes. In this chapter we describe some useful utilities and techniques for String processing. We'll be using regular expression patterns to compare Strings, split delimited Strings, find substrings, and perform substitutions. We will also consider utilities for String randomization, formatting, and conversion.
