Internal audit progressed in prominence, importance, and emphasis through the development of the main quality management standard (see Figure 10.1: Standards Development of the foundation, Quality Management Standard).

There are clear links to financial audit—both are concerned with loss and one authority expects them a complete merger in another 10 years—from when he wrote, now expired, and with no observable signs yet.¹ But the observation still stands (see Chapter 23 Financial Accountancy and Management Consulting below).
