Chapter 25. Managing Browser Bugs: Workarounds, Hacks, and Filters
—by Aaron Gustafson
In an ideal world, software would be flawless, W3C Recommendations would be clear, and this chapter would never have to be written. Welcome to reality.
This chapter will address most of the common browser bugs you will encounter when designing with CSS and will help you quickly and easily wrangle those bugs into submission by using each browser’s own misinterpretation or ignorance of the specs against them (in the form of hacks and filters). First, the chapter will tackle the buggy browsers on a per-browser basis and then, it will wrap with a hack management strategy that will make your life much easier, today and in the future.
