Distributed Power Management (DPM) addresses this concern and is integrated into DRS. Its job is to monitor the cluster’s usage and move VMs during nonpeak usage to a fewer number of ESX hosts. The unneeded ESX hosts are put into a standby mode, so they consume less power in the server room.
In this chapter, you’ll learn how DPM works and how to enable it.
