15. Messages
In This Chapter
Messages lets you send unlimited free text messages, photos, videos, and more to people who are also running Messages on their iPads, iPhones, iPod touches, or Macs, and with whom you’ve exchanged email addresses. Messages identifies you by your Apple ID email address and requires an Internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular signal).
Messages uses Apple’s iMessage instant-messenger service, a free alternative to the ubiquitous SMS and MMS messaging services used on mobile phones and the Web. iMessage works only on iDevices and Macs.
