Understanding State Management
As you read at the beginning of this chapter, ASP.NET applications have to manage their states in a different way than client applications. State is managed via some special objects: Application
, Cache
, Context
, Session
, and ViewState
. All of them work with the Object
type, and you use them like dictionaries because they accept key/value pairs. The next subsections explain this and provide examples.
