Game engines play an important role in the VR industry, not only for games, architecture, or education purposes, but also for narrative VR. The subject of this book being specifically VR filmmaking, this chapter therefore focuses on how game engines can enhance a VR experience featuring some kind of live action. Whether the project was shot more or less in 360° and then projected into a game engine, or if advanced techniques like volumetric capture were used, the following pages describe how the two worlds of live capture and game engines can meet and improve the art of VR.
