Abstract: The contribution criticizes the circularity of the widespread psychological concept of aggression and proposes to replace it by a concept of violence. Hence, a meaningful way to talk of communicative violence becomes possible, the counterpart of which is communicative empathy. Illustrated by transcribed therapy sessions some situations with violence potential are described, they can originate from both, therapist and patient.
