Gender budgeting is an approach to budgeting that uses fiscal policy and public financial management to promote gender equality, and women’s and girls’ development. Gender budgeting is a worldwide phenomenon. Since its inception in Australia more than 30 years ago, over 80 countries in the world have embraced some version of gender budgeting.
