11 The SMART ISPF utilities
Since the early 1980ies, I have been working with ISPF. Over time, I often missed some practical functions in ISPF. In the early 1980ies, there was no internet available. Therefore, it was very difficult to find appropriate functions to fulfil my needs. Therefore, I began to develop these functions from time to time myself. Now a whole series of programs have accumulated that I use in my daily work in ISPF. They are all REXX programs in which I very often use the functions provided by ISPF.
