Abstract
This chapter describes the necessary steps to take when planning usability testing. We discuss considerations for participant selection and recruitment as well as sample size. We then discuss testing equipment including software such as screen recorders and hardware such as mobile sleds that can be used for testing on mobile devices. We then discuss the differences between laboratory testing, in-the-field testing and remote testing. Finally, we provide guidance on practical considerations to keep in mind when planning.
