Chapter 2 A Review of the Technological Stream
In this chapter, we elaborate on the overview of technological advances we have only sketched in the previous chapter. More precisely, we focus on the languages and Web technology that have glued together the Web from the very beginning but have evolved over time as well. We also discuss the disruptive technology of P2P networks, their structures, and applications. Our aim in this chapter is twofold: First, we show what the relevant Web technology is about and how it can be used, in particular when it comes to languages such as HTML and XML or to programming in JavaScript or an Ajax environment.
