The possible up to 80 percent plus job loss projection will not occur overnight. It might be within the generally accepted 30-year timeframe, but at the rate of AI development, a betting man would place it sooner. Consequently, what is required is at least recognition of the problem and some government concern in planning for a staged introduction of an overall welfare system and how this will be regulated if democracy is to survive.
