Technological Change in Indian Agriculture

The Green Revolution is an agricultural revolution. Norman Borlaug is considered “Father of the Green Revolution.” He saved billions of people from starvation and hence was awarded the Noble Prize. Quality of diet improved worldwide after the Green Revolution. In India, the Green Revolution was led by M.S. Swaminathan, who is called “Father of the Green Revolution in India.” Problems in agriculture were challenging, but the Green Revolution solved the problems with the introduction of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides to increase agricultural productivity.
