About the Author
Joan Magretta’s collaboration with Michael Porter began almost two decades ago, when she was the strategy editor at Harvard Business Review. She has worked closely with Porter on many publications, including two of his most influential articles: “What Is Strategy?” and “The Five Competitive Forces That Shape Strategy.” She is currently a Senior Associate at Porter’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School.
