This chapter builds on the notion of creativity in cultural construction within the context of the individual’s potential dialogue with the structures often associated with ‘national cultures’. These potentials will be looked at realistically, given that they may often be inhibited by circumstances and feed dominant rumours of ‘national culture’ dominance.
The national structures with which the dialogue takes place are on the left of the grammar within the general domain of particular social and political structures, including cultural resources and global position and politics. They structure how we are brought up to look at the rest of the world and contribute to our sense of national identity.
