Create Your First Application

Writing apps for Ubuntu Mobile is done in QML. QML is a JavaScript-based declarative language from the Qt Project. Writing QML code is beyond the scope of this chapter, but you can find good “Getting Started” documentation and tutorials in the “References” section.

QML is written in a text editor. You can use your favorite, if you have one. There is an IDE designed specifically for Qt projects called Qt Creator, which is available from the Ubuntu software repositories as qtcreator. When you installed the Ubuntu SDK, a version of it was installed. Because the SDK includes templates and other helps, it is recommended.
