David Lebe

David Lebe (b. 1948) studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of The Arts) from 1966 to 1970 and taught there from 1972 to 1990. As a student, he worked with Sol Mednick, Ray K. Metzker, and Barbara Blondeau (1938–1974). Often Lebe chooses to expand on the orthodox camera image or dispense with it completely, questioning not only implicit photographic assumptions, but societal ones as well. He does not seek out exotic subjects, but takes what is at hand and transforms that into something spectacular.
