Robert Flynt (b. 1956) received his BFA at Tyler School of Art (1978). The core of Flynt’s work addresses issues of gay activism by reimagining the male body by means of combining the mechanics of motion and the passage of time. During the AIDS pandemic of the 1980s, Flynt began his imagemaking with black-and-white negatives of male figures engaged in underwater theatrical performances, or in the dark using flashlight.
