Stephen Marc (b. 1954) studied with William Larson while completing his MFA at the Tyler School of Art (1978) and now teaches at Arizona State University (ASU). Referring to how Marc approaches his art, one curator has called him “schizophrenic” because of his intense drive to experiment with numerous photographic materials and tools. Regardless of Marc’s diverse use of mediums, he is a natural storyteller whose purpose has been to examine the African diaspora and its ensuing effects on African American identity.
