Chapter 10
Creating the Building Footprint
IN THIS CHAPTER
Developing a simple floor plan on the Tinkercad Workplane
Using Tinkercad to refine the floorplan
Working with the floor plan to create the right shape
Extruding the floor plan to give it depth
In this chapter, you start the initial development of a new 3D design: a small 3D skyscraper. If you’ve ever seen those small plastic replicas of the Eiffel Tower from Paris, France, then you have a general idea of what you’re aiming for, but with the added sophistication of Tinkercad.
In this chapter, you find out how to use Tinkercad to develop a simple floor plan, which you then refine to the required shape.
You also find out how to extrude the floor plan to the required depth.
The Basic Floor Plan: Keeping It Simple
To create your skyscraper (albeit in miniature), you need to start at the bottom and keep it simple.
You need a simple outline shape that initially outlines the floor plan, which you can then develop, ready to extrude to the required floor slab depth.
You can then develop the rest of the skyscraper, floor by floor.
