Setting Up Your Equipment
Before we get started on hooking up your equipment, we need to go over the different types of cables, connectors, and adapters that you need to be familiar with. Many of them you will be using.
Cables and Connectors
As you venture further into your new career, you’ll need to become very familiar with what these items look like, what they’re called, and when to use them.
Video Cables and Connectors
There are five types of video cables: BNC, S-Video, RCA, coaxial, and component.
BNC
The BNC cable (see Figure 3-1) is commonly used with the more expensive professional equipment. Sometimes it is referred to as composite. It’s not important to know what composite means; just be aware of the term.
