Automated Package and Pallet Sortation
At this stage of the fulfillment process, products were pulled out of storage, picked, consolidated into orders, packed, manifested, and labeled. The next requirement is to sort the finished pallets and packages to their designated shipping lanes. In high-throughput operations, such as e-commerce fulfillment and parcel centers, sortation is an especially critical process. The goal is to transport and divert all packages and pallets to the right place at the right time, which is no easy feat when dealing with upwards of tens of thousands of packages a day.
