Often Reality Is Too Complex

Ron Suskind has a story to tell. His son was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Owen stopped speaking.

Ron and his wife soon realized Owen had memorized every line from animated Disney movies, and Ron successfully communicated as the parrot Iago from Aladdin, using a puppet and speaking in Disney dialogue. Borrowing from the stories, tricks of this kind became a method to decode Owen’s thoughts. Great progress was made as the couple identified themes, and the boy redefined sidekicks as the real heroes.
