Mutual funds are popular investment vehicles which allow investors to buy shares in a collection of securities, such as stocks and bonds. Portfolio managers oversee buying and selling securities that are held by the fund. By purchasing shares of the fund itself, you are able to own a proportional interest in all of the securities that the fund holds. This can quickly and efficiently aid in your quest for diversification. There is a wide variety of mutual funds available, which we will explore in Chapter 22.
