In groundbreaking research, Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck identified that we have control over our negativity bias. Her work on “mindset” showed that we could break out of our perception that we can’t affect the world and that we can change this idea, so that we come to see the way we think as something that is flexible and easy to change.lxiii

For most of us, this should not come as a surprise. We’ve all had great successes in our lives. Often we may attribute these to luck or good fortune, but for people who have the right mindset, they recognize that it is due to their hard work and mental attitude.
