This book intended to explain how radicalization processes work. What turns a person into a radical? With a special focus on Jewish anarchists in New York City, it had a certain demographic and geographical angle but also showed how the radicalization of one individual can be shared by a larger number of people with similar experiences. We followed the lives of Emma Goldman, Alexander Berkman, and Isidore Wisotsky, who all arrived in the United States with many hopes and dreams after they had decided to leave Eastern Europe and their Jewish heritage behind.
