All of these are covered later in their specific chapters; this chapter covers the basics of electricity, how to hook up different components, how to make and troubleshoot circuits, and how to do it all safely.

The fundamental nature of electricity is complex: we use metaphors to help describe it. Many of these metaphors are not entirely correct at all times. However, 99 percent of the electrical props we build can be figured out with a very basic knowledge of electricity.
