Factors Affecting Group Performance

Groups are complex systems in motion, with many moving parts, involving multiple factors at the group, individual, and behavioral levels. The nature and quality of a factor at one level affects conditions and circumstances at other levels of the group. Adapted from Knowles (1972), these factors can be used to assess a group’s effectiveness and make decisions about actions needed to improve group performance.
