Shades of Gray, Black, and White
Discover new ways of taking pictures
The key to black-and-white photography is remembering this: it is not about the removal of color. Black and white requires its own way of seeing, and you learn this way of seeing not from software, but from shooting in black and white.
Ahh, you say, but my camera shoots in color, I am used to color, and anyway, that seems so old-fashioned. Why should I shoot in black and white?
Black and white is not part of our normal vision, so shooting in black and white immediately requires you to think differently in terms of creating photographs with shades of gray. And it’s fun!
