06 Anchoring
The use of an element to ground or weigh down a space.
An anchoring element is an object or surface that sets the tone for a room's design. It can range from a work of art to a darker floor. The anchor element should be the focal point and not be overwhelmed by other objects in the room. Lighting is crucial to its impact. Examples include furniture, textiles, and bold walls. Even a large window can act as an anchor through its absence of surface.
