05 Alignment
The arrangement of elements along a line.
Alignment is the technique by which a designer organizes movement through a space by using visual cues. It involves coordinating cabinets, finishes, and other elements to create a cohesive and organized design. When vertical and horizontal lines align, a sense of symmetry and order is achieved. By considering alignment in elements like shelves, windows, artwork, and lighting, designers can effectively organize and enhance a space.
In some cases, furniture and objects can be positioned asymmetrically to bring a sense of dynamism and contrast to the room’s geometry. By carefully considering alignment and symmetry, designers can create harmonious and visually appealing spaces.
