CHAPTER 12 TACKLING COMPLEX OBJECTS

I was traveling with my children, Oliver and Leo, after a visit from Grandma’s house one Sunday. Leo, seated in the back of the vehicle exclaimed “It’s all shapes!” I asked him what he meant. He was referring to the buildings, vehicles, signs and trees. He could see that everything around him was indeed “just shapes.”

Certainly, much of what you draw will not be as simple as a plain box, a cylinder, a sphere or a cone. However, much of what exists as objects in real life can be described as being made up of these fundamental and simple forms in some combination or another.
