Avoid Dappled Light

image

Dappled light usually happens when you’re shooting outdoors in the shade of a tree, where little speckles of light wind up hitting your subject (as seen above left), and ruining the shot. Luckily, it’s an easy fix. If you see this dappled light situation happening, put your eye up to the viewfinder and have your subject move either to their left or right, or take a step forward or backward, until they are clear of the speckles (as seen above right). You’ll be able to find a spot where your subject is in solid shadows without a dapple in sight.
