Use a Reflector to Create Shade

If you can’t find a shady spot to shoot, and you don’t have a 1-stop diffuser with you (hey, it happens), you can simply hold a reflector over your subject to create shade. You’re not doing any reflecting or bouncing here—you’re using it to simply block out the light, just like an overhang on a house or a porch or some trees would. That way, you’re not shooting in direct sunlight.
