Shoot with Your Camera Set to RAW Format
You’re probably already doing this, but if you’re not, now is your chance to switch off JPEG and start shooting in RAW format. It’s a higher-quality format that captures a wider tonal range. It’s much more forgiving if you make any mistakes with exposure or white balance, and you’ll wind up with better-looking images even if you messed up when you took the shot. You’ll have less clipping of the highlights in your image, and your original RAW image will always be protected (you don’t ever wind up editing the original by accident, like you can with a JPEG file).
