Minimum Focusing Distance
If you go to shoot a portrait and your lens won’t focus, it’s probably because you’re standing so close to your subject that your lens can’t focus. Lenses have a thing called Minimum Focusing Distance, and if your lens won’t focus, it means that you’re trying to shoot inside that Minimum Focusing Distance range so it can’t focus.
