Chapter 6
Two-Dimensional Problems
In this chapter we will investigate scattering problems in the context of two-dimensional structures. The discussion and examples here will serve to illustrate the approach outlined in Section 3.6.3.1, practical computation of the matrix elements (3.185–3.190), and the choice of basis and testing functions. We will first consider conducting objects, and discuss the implementation of the and × operators in the EFIE and nMFIE. We will then consider dielectric objects and the operator in the EFIE/MFIE, and the × operator in the nMFIE. Because general two-dimensional problems can be split into TM- and TE-polarized sub-problems, we will consider each of these individually.
