Go to the Gemba to Run Your Kaizen

Once you start your kaizen activity, you want to be able to go full speed ahead. When you announce your new Lean strategy to everybody, make sure that you are clear about why you are doing this and what type of results you expect. Don’t send a memo. Your people need to hear this from you in person. Follow up your announcement with the initial training, and then start your kaizen activities. Try to go at a pace that averages two kaizen events per week per facility. As CEO, you should be involved in picking the areas for each kaizen (starting with your biggest product family first) and setting the stretch goals for the kaizen teams.
