Nine
It was late morning on Sunday and already Adam felt the edginess knifing into what was left of his weekend. It didn’t help that he lumbered into the day exhausted from the day before—not from activity, but strangely, from the lack of it. At least three times he tried to concentrate on the novel he had brought to read, and three times his mind and then his eyes wandered off. Even lying on the couch staring at whatever baseball game was on was not enough to coax him into a nap or stop the buzzing in his head. As much as he tried to push the confrontation with Duncan back into the shadows, the memory prodded him, giving him no rest.
