Turn Off the Room Lights

If you’re shooting indoors with window light, you don’t want there to be any other light sources because they will often create extra shadows on your subject (which you don’t want), and they can also mess with the color in your image, giving people weird skin tones (you don’t want that either). So, make sure you turn off any room lights before you start shooting (overhead lights, table lamps, etc.). Turn ‘em all off and you’ll wind up with better results by sidestepping two common problems.
