Composition: Where to Put Eyes in the Frame

When you’re composing your shot, the ideal place for your subject’s eyes to appear is about 1/3 of the way from the top of the image. That’s the sweet spot to shoot for. If they’re standing close to you, that might have you framing up the shot with the top of their head being cut off (see page 49 for more on that), but at least you’ll know you’ve got the shot framed up right.
