How We’re Going to Pay for Constituent Care

Nothing in this life is free, and that includes healthcare. Someone needs to pay the bills.

In the United States, our constituents pay for their healthcare—meaning treatment for disease or injury—through one or more of three methods.

1. Taxes and Government Borrowing

The more common way to say this is “government programs,” including Medicare and Medicaid. But the federal government has to get its money from somewhere, so either it collects taxes, or it borrows.
