Flow Chart: Is Training Necessary?
Some business leaders look to training to solve all manner of performance problems. As flattering as that may be, it is a mistake for a training and development group to agree to provide training when the root cause of the suboptimal performance is something other than a lack of knowledge or skill. Conducting training under such circumstances is guaranteed to produce learning scrap and to undermine the credibility and support for the function as a whole.
