On location
Shooting on location presents infinite possibilities for catastrophe ranging from manslaughter through to copyright, contracts, defamation, trespass, insurance, confidentiality, bribery and the specific problems of working with children and animals. A fuller description of these horrors is to be found in the sister volume of this book The Essential Television Handbook.
No two directors will approach location shooting in the same way. Everyone has eventually to work out an individual style and method. A lot depends on the genre of the programme.
