Directing demonstrations

If the commonest set-up in broadcast television is the interview, the second most familiar is the demonstration.

A television demonstration is any programme item where a presenter or expert practitioner explains and performs some process directly to the audience. This may be wrapped up to look like an interview. A guest of a show can perform the demonstration whilst a regular anchor person remains on the set to pose questions and chivvy along the performance. There is a small risk that this can complicate the matter of eyelines. Is the demonstrator addressing the anchor person or the viewer?
