RITA GUNTHER MCGRATH is an Associate Professor in the Management Division of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She is the recipient of the Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice Award for the best conceptual paper submitted to the 1996 and 1992 Academy of Management Meetings, Entrepreneurship Division, as well as of the inaugural (1992) Kauffman Foundation Fellowship in Entrepreneurship.

Prior to her life in academia, she managed major information technology projects, worked in the political arena, and founded two start-ups. In her research and consulting, she has worked with companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Intel, DuPont, Citigroup (formerly Citibank), Chubb & Son, Texas Instruments, Ericsson, Fluor Daniel, ...
